Kata Beach

Kata beach is one of the most frequented coastal jewels in Phuket due to its golden sand, clear and turquoise waters and relaxed ambience. It is located on the southwest coast of the island, extending to approximately 1.5 kilometres, and it is ideal to spend a few hours relaxing and being active. Kata has a more family-friendly and relaxed atmosphere as compared to the hectic Patong beach yet there is so much to do. The beach is split into two larger parts – Kata Yai (the larger portion to the north) and Kata Noi (a smaller, clean bay situated to the south).
Kata Beach is popular for swimming, sunbathing and water sports, particularly the surfing in monsoon months (May to October). The swarmy waves and light sands make it popular to novices as well as experienced surfers. In addition to the beach, there are also colourful markets, boutique hotels, beachfront restaurants and a variety of accommodations, such as budget hotels and luxury resorts. During the sunset, Kata becomes a romantic getaway; beach bars and restaurants also provide an incredible view of the sea.
