How to reach Thailand

By Air

Travelling by air is easy and the fastest way to reach Thailand. It has two major international airports- Phuket and Bangkok. They are well connected by intercontinental flights. There are other airports in Thailand such as in Krabi and Chiang Mai which connects most countries to Thailand with some restrictions. Singapore and Kuala Lumpur are the best places to catch flights to Thai cities without the crowd at Bangkok airport.

By Road

Driving down to Thailand can be a fun experience. You can drive your way down from Kuala Lumpur, Penang or Singapore to reach Phuket, Krabi and Hat Yai. The formalities at the border might take a few hours so planning your trip and leaving early is highly recommended. Do consider all factors before taking this road trip.

Malaria does exist in parts of Thailand but most tourist places are malaria free. Take ample precaution before visiting Thailand.
First-time travellers need to know that food in Thailand is an adventure with a multitude of interesting and unique dishes to try. Thai street food is delicious but it's advisable to pick the right vendors. One useful tip is to buy from long-standing vendors. Food in northern Thailand is very different from Bangkok so prepare yourself for a wild culinary experience.
It is advisable to secure travel insurance before travelling. Thailand is a wonderful and awe-inspiring travel destination but anything could go wrong anywhere. It is safer to be prepared for any surprise mishaps.
This depends on what kind your plugs your country uses. If you have North American and European plugs then you will have no problem using Thai sockets. However, do find out if you need one in any other layover country. If your plugs are British or Australian then yes, you need a travel adapter. It is better to carry one just in case you may need it.
Thai temples and palaces have certain clothing restrictions and must not be violated. Longer clothes that cover more are recommended to avoid any local sentiments being hurt. The restrictions apply to all. Do take off your shoes outside some shops and all homes. It is not uncommon to leave your shoes outside hotel rooms as well.
