The interesting thing about Nusa Penida is that there isn't a lot of fresh, natural water there. As a result, little much is produced or grown on the land. However, boats are used to deliver essential food services. As a result, prices in some locations are marginally more than in others in Bali. Since the island city is primarily simple and agricultural by nature, luxury goods won't be found here.
Only recently has Nusa Penida emerged as an unofficial bird sanctuary for a number of endangered bird species, including various Indonesian birds including the Balinese Starling. There isn't much to discover when traveling in this region. You can use the private speed boat or the regular public ferry. While here, tourists can discover a variety of serene, lovely, and sandy beaches. These are some of the best and are mostly found on the north and north-west shores.

How to reach Nusa Penida Island, Bali
- By Fast Boat: The fastest and most popular way is by fast boat from Sanur Harbor in Bali to Nusa Penida’s main ports (Banjar Nyuh/Toya Pakeh, Sampalan, Buyuk). The journey takes 30–45 minutes, with tickets around IDR 150,000–300,000 one way. Boats operate daily from 7:30AM to 5:20PM. Book tickets online or at the harbor.
- By Ferry: A slower but cheaper public ferry runs from Padangbai and Kusamba, taking up to 90 minutes. Most visitors choose the fast boat for convenience.
- Getting Around: Motorbikes (80,000–100,000 IDR/day) or private cars with drivers are available for hire. Roads can be rough, drive with care or opt for a guided tour if you’re new to riding in Indonesia.
- By Foot: The island is too large to explore solely on foot, but you can enjoy select villages and nearby beaches by walking after arriving at port.
