Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary, Kuala Lumpur

The Malaysian Department of Wildlife and National Parks created the Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary as an Elephant Capture and Translocation Unit in 1989. It is situated inside the Krau Wildlife Reserve. The relocation crew uses it as a translocation center for lost and orphaned elephants. In addition, the center works to educate the public in order to increase support and awareness for elephant conservation.

At the Kuala Gandah Elephant Conservation Center, guests can view the elephants twice a day without experiencing any discomfort. A documentary film that provides guests with further information about the work done at the center and the duties of the rangers opens the sanctuary tour. They will also have the chance to interact directly with these kind giants after the film's viewing.

Observing elephants being fed and bathed at a nearby river is entertaining, but feeding and bathing young elephants under the guidance of their mahout is a whole different experience. These mischievous elephants love dousing everyone in water, so get ready to get soaked, but it's an unforgettable experience that will captivate everyone.

Although there is no admission cost, the sanctuary does accept donations to support the elephants' upkeep. Buying food or mementos from elephants is another way you may help them. You have to register and pay a little fee before you can take part in elephant bathing.
