Big Buddha Temple

Wat Phra Yai, or Big Buddha Temple, is one of the most recognizable landmarks of Pattaya. Pratumnak Hill is a high point between Pattaya and Jomtien Beach that has a marvelous statue of the Buddha that is 18 meters in height, creating a stellar view of the city as well as the coast. Constructed in 1977, the temple is an attraction not only to those worshippers but also to other tourists who visit to admire once again the panoramic views. The calm, amazing statues, and more are some of the reasons why one must visit it. Tourists are welcome to wander the temple complex and admire the stairway that is decorated with images of naga snakes as well as minor shrines dedicated to other deities. In addition to having religious importance, the temple is a perfect shooting, contemplating, and reflection point. You can learn about Thai culture and spirituality or just admire the beautiful panorama of the city. The Big Buddha Temple would become one of the best attractions in Pattaya.

Best time to visit
The best time to visit the Big Buddha Temple is early in the morning when the atmosphere is calm, the weather is pleasant, and fewer tourists are around. Morning light also enhances the golden shine of the statue, making it perfect for photos. Late afternoon is another good option, offering cooler temperatures and stunning sunset views over Pattaya Bay. Midday visits are not recommended due to the strong heat and crowds.
