Peak Season

The peak season in Malaysia occurs between December and February on the west coast and June to August on the east coast. During this period, the weather is mostly dry and sunny, with average temperatures ranging between 26°C and 32°C. It’s the best time for beach activities, sightseeing, and attending local festivals as popular destinations like Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi, and Penang are at their liveliest.

Off-Season

The off-season falls between March to May and September to November, marked by higher humidity and occasional rain showers. Temperatures typically range from 25°C to 31°C. While some coastal areas may experience monsoon rains, this season offers quieter attractions and lower travel costs, perfect for budget-conscious travelers.

Shoulder Season

The shoulder season offers a comfortable blend of pleasant weather and fewer crowds. With temperatures hovering between 27°C and 33°C, it’s an excellent time to explore Malaysia’s cities, nature trails, and cultural landmarks in a more relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.

How to Reach Malaysia from Kolkata?

By Air

Traveling from Kolkata to Malaysia is convenient, with multiple flight options connecting the two destinations. The fastest way is by air, with direct flights operating from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport (Kolkata) to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (Malaysia). The journey usually takes around 4 to 5 hours. Leading airlines such as AirAsia, Malaysia Airlines, and IndiGo offer both direct and connecting flights. For travelers preferring a budget-friendly option, connecting flights via Delhi, Singapore, or Bangkok are also available. Efficient air connectivity makes it easy for travelers from Kolkata to explore Malaysia’s diverse attractions with ease.

Visa Requirement for Malaysia

Indian tourists enjoy visa-free entry to Malaysia for stays up to 30 days for tourism and social visits, a policy extended until December 31, 2026. A valid passport with at least six months' validity from the entry date is mandatory, along with proof of onward or return travel tickets within the 30-day limit. Travelers must also provide accommodation details, such as hotel bookings.

Additionally, complete the mandatory Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) online within three days before arrival via the official immigration portal. Carry sufficient funds proof if requested at immigration. For stays beyond 30 days or non-tourist purposes like business or study, apply for an eVisa in advance through the official Malaysia Visa portal. Overstaying incurs fines or bans. Always check for updates before travel.

Traveller’s Tips

  • Pack light layers: Expect hot, humid weather (28-32°C); carry breathable clothes, rain gear, and comfortable walking shoes for urban exploration.
  • Stay hydrated and use sunscreen: Tropical climate demands constant water intake; apply high-SPF lotion to protect against intense sun.
  • Respect local customs: Dress modestly at religious sites like Batu Caves; remove shoes before entering temples and avoid public displays of affection.
  • Use ride-hailing apps: Grab is reliable and affordable for city travel; avoid unofficial taxis to prevent overcharging.
  • Carry cash for street food: Markets prefer local currency (MYR); exchange at airports or ATMs for best rates, but use cards in malls.
  • Download offline maps: Google Maps or Maps.me work well; Wi-Fi is widespread but SIM cards offer better connectivity.
  • Book attractions early: Secure Petronas Towers tickets online; visit during shoulder seasons to avoid crowds.

We recently travelled to Langkawi and Kuala Lumpur and booked our entire trip through Travalot. It was a family trip, and everything was arranged perfectly. Aman, who handled our booking, was very responsive and helpful throughout. The itinerary was well planned, the stays and transfers were smooth, and overall the experience was completely hassle-free. We are very happy with the service and highly recommend Travalot for a well-organized and comfortable trip

The experience was great. There was nothing that we could complain about regarding our tour and the itinerary. Everything was handled with great care any Abhishek. The only issue was with the hotel room. We stayed at Ramada encore, the room was too small and widow was a small rectangle located well above head level. It felt like living in a basement. Would advise to book another hotel or better rooms. Looking back at it, we were pretty happy with all the planning and accomodation tour provided.

We recently traveled to Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi) with the help of Travalot, and I must say it was an absolutely wonderful experience. From the very beginning, the team was extremely prompt and professional. A special mention to Rahul Raj Tripathi, who was always quick in responding to every query and message we dropped in the WhatsApp group. His patience and support made the whole journey smooth and stress-free. My husband had planned everything with Travalot, and they managed every detail perfectly. They created a WhatsApp group where they kept us updated with all the daily itineraries in advance, along with tickets for major attractions like the Sky Cable Car and Sky Bridge in Langkawi, as well as Genting Highlands and the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur. This proactive planning saved us so much time and let us enjoy the trip without worrying about the logistics. The local drivers arranged by Travalot were also highly experienced, polite, and well-behaved. Honestly, we never once felt like we were in another country, it felt safe and comfortable throughout. A very big thank you to Rahul for his constant cooperation and support. Without his efforts, this trip wouldn’t have been as memorable for me and my husband. We truly had a beautiful time, and I would definitely choose Travalot again for our next vacation.
