Ubud Palace, Bali

The Bali royal family once called Puri Saren Agung, often called the Ubud Kingdom Palace, home. It is a temple encircled by beautiful traditional structures. Built during Ida Putu Kandel's rule in the early nineteenth century, this regal residence has a long history. The Puri Saren Agung, which is still in the custody of the former king's descendants, is a wonderful place to explore and one of Ubud's largest collections of traditional arts.

Known as the birthplace of Ubud, Puri Saren Agung is acknowledged as a melting pot of artistic influences. There are lotus ponds on either side of the entrance when one visits. There are just two public buildings that house a diverse collection of artwork and traditional sculptures from Bali. With stupa-like layers splitting each building's towers into multiple levels, the Palace itself is renowned for its traditional Balinese designs.

Accommodations are also available in small cottages on the royal palace grounds. Surrounded by lovely gardens, fountains, sculptures, and other historic structures, this is a great place to spend time with your loved ones. Every day, extravagantly costumed dancers perform scenes from myths and legends in a traditional Balinese dance-drama on the palace grounds.
