Galle Lighthouse

Galle Lighthouse, also known as Pointe de Galle Light, is a well-known tourist destination in Galle. The lighthouse, which is located on Galle's coastlines, creates a picture-perfect scene against the emerald waters that crash on the island's lovely beige sands. Its location within the city's architectural wonder, Galle Fort, further enhances its natural beauty.

This lighthouse, which began construction in 1939, was built to replace the previous one that had been destroyed by fire in 1934. This automated lighthouse is still in operation and is a popular tourism destination for both residents and visitors. The new lighthouse is 2 meters taller than the old one, standing at 26.5 meters.

Visitors flock here to relax on the neighboring beaches and take in the lighthouse's timeless beauty. Additionally, tourists enjoy participating in the many water sports that are available at the surrounding beaches, such as swimming, scuba diving, surfing, and many more. It is essential to sample the genuine Sri Lankan food served at neighborhood eateries and food stands, which you can enjoy with a cool King coconut drink.
