By Air
Flying is the most popular and efficient way to reach the island. Phu Quoc International Airport (PQC) receives daily direct flights from major Vietnamese cities like Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. For international travelers, there are direct connections from hubs like Bangkok, Seoul, and Kuala Lumpur. The flight from Ho Chi Minh City takes just under an hour, making it a quick hop for those exploring mainland Vietnam first.
By Train
There is no direct train to Phu Quoc or even a direct rail link between Malaysia and Vietnam. To travel by rail, you would start in Malaysia (e.g., Kuala Lumpur) and take the KTM ETS or international trains north through Thailand and Cambodia. Once you cross into Vietnam, you would head to Ho Chi Minh City and then use road or air transport to reach the island. This is a multi-day journey suited for true slow travel enthusiasts.
By Road
For a more scenic journey, you can take a fast ferry or speedboat from the mainland ports of Ha Tien or Rach Gia. The trip from Ha Tien takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes, while the journey from Rach Gia takes roughly 2.5 hours.
