By Train

Phuket does not have its own railway station, but it can still be reached by train with a short transfer. The most common route is to take a train from Bangkok's Hua Lamphong or Bang Sue Grand Station to Surat Thani, which takes approximately 8 to 10 hours (overnight trains are recommended). From Surat Thani, a bus or minivan to Phuket takes another 4 to 5 hours. Alternatively, travellers can alight at Phun Phin Station near Surat Thani and then continue by road to Phuket. While this route is scenic and budget-friendly, it is best suited for travellers who have extra time and enjoy a leisurely journey.

By Road

Phuket is connected to mainland Thailand via the Sarasin Bridge, making road travel a practical option. Air-conditioned buses and minivans run regularly from Bangkok's Southern Bus Terminal (Sai Tai Mai) to Phuket, with the journey taking approximately 12 to 14 hours; overnight buses are a popular budget choice.
