The leopard never got a name, the locals said that it didn’t need one. It is a part of us’ said one elderly person, and that is exactly how they treated it.
Over time, the leopard also started trusting the people around. It would stroll past huts, lie on warm rocks near the village, and at times when other wild animals used to come, the leopard used to chase the wild animals away.
The leopard became a quiet guardian, a familiar face basically. Children grew up seeing the leopard, elders used to watch over him, and eventually everyone understood that this leopard isn’t an enemy but a neighbour, or even better, a part of their family.
